Gonda: Uttar Pradesh Technical Education and Consumer Affairs Minister and Gonda’s in-charge minister Ashish Patel visited flood-affected Aili Parsauli village on Wednesday, inspected the affected areas and distributed relief material among families impacted by flooding.
During the relief distribution programme, Patel handed over 500 flood relief kits to affected families. He also provided cheques of Rs 5,000 each to six farmers whose agricultural land had been affected by river erosion. Two Lekhpals engaged in flood relief operations were also provided with essential relief material.
The minister praised the district administration for its preparedness, monitoring and coordination of flood relief and rescue operations. He directed officials to ensure that relief material reaches every eligible flood-affected family without delay.
Relief Kits Include Essential Items
As part of an initiative undertaken by District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan, flood-affected families were provided not only with relief kits but also umbrellas, torches and mosquito nets. Patel appreciated the initiative, saying that the administration had taken into account the everyday needs of families facing difficult conditions due to flooding.
Patel said the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, was committed to providing all possible assistance to people affected by floods. Amid rising water levels in the Ghaghra and other rivers, he appreciated the advance preparations undertaken by the district administration, including the availability of relief supplies, establishment of flood outposts and deployment of officials and staff in vulnerable areas.
He directed officials to immediately provide relief material to any additional families affected by flooding in the coming days. He also appealed to local public representatives to inform the administration if any affected family had been left out of the relief network so that assistance could be extended promptly.
The minister said the administration would continue to support affected families even after the floodwaters receded, with the objective of helping them return to normal life.
Patel also appreciated the role of Revenue Department officials and employees in flood relief operations and stressed that every eligible flood victim must receive the relief material provided by the administration.
He urged affected villagers to report any problems to the administration or elected representatives so that necessary assistance could be provided without delay. He also praised the police administration for maintaining continuous monitoring and security in affected areas.
Power-Related Complaints to Be Resolved Promptly
Later, Patel chaired a district-level departmental review meeting at the District Panchayat auditorium, where he reviewed development works, law and order and priority schemes of the state government.
During the review of the electricity department, he directed the Superintending Engineer to maintain regular communication with elected representatives and obtain feedback on power-related issues in their areas. He called for prompt resolution of complaints involving power supply, transformers, transmission lines and other electricity infrastructure.
Jal Jeevan Mission Projects to Be Completed by September
Reviewing the Jal Jeevan Mission, Patel directed officials to complete all ongoing projects in the district by September. He said providing piped drinking water to every rural household was a priority of the government and stressed that unnecessary delays should be avoided.
He also instructed officials to ensure that all projects were completed according to prescribed quality standards.
Roads and Tourism Projects to Be Accelerated
During the review of the Public Works Department, the minister sought details of ongoing road construction projects and directed officials to complete pending works at the earliest. He emphasised quality control and regular monitoring of construction activities.
Reviewing tourism development projects, Patel directed officials to accelerate works at important tourist destinations and ensure regular monitoring so that ongoing projects could be completed on priority.
He also reviewed development works being carried out through gram panchayats and directed officials to expedite the construction of libraries and other rural infrastructure projects. He stressed the need to strengthen basic facilities in villages and ensure that the benefits of government development schemes reach residents effectively.
Focus on Housing and Rural Development Schemes
The minister reviewed the progress of the Chief Minister Housing Scheme and the VB-G Ram Ji scheme. He directed officials to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive benefits within the prescribed timeframe and that implementation remains transparent.
He stressed that no eligible person should be excluded from government welfare schemes.
No Eligible Person Should Be Left Without a Ration Card
During the review of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, Patel directed officials to ensure that ration cards are issued to all eligible residents of the district.
He instructed officials to examine applications according to prescribed eligibility criteria and issue ration cards within the stipulated timeframe, ensuring that eligible families receive the benefits of government foodgrain schemes.
Praise for District Administration’s Coordination
Patel directed all departments to accelerate development works and implement the Chief Minister’s directives and government priorities effectively. He asked officials to coordinate with the District Magistrate whenever they encountered difficulties so that development projects would not be delayed.
The minister particularly appreciated the district administration’s regular review of development schemes, inter-departmental coordination, monitoring mechanisms and advance preparedness in flood-affected areas under the leadership of the District Magistrate.
He said the administration had treated the flood situation seriously and put comprehensive relief and rescue arrangements in place, with officials and employees deployed to ensure assistance reached affected families.
Patel directed officials to maintain the same level of sensitivity, efficiency and responsiveness in all public-interest matters and ensure that government schemes reach every eligible beneficiary.
The review meeting was attended by the Mehnaun MLA, Gaura MLA, District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police, Chief Development Officer, Gonda MP’s representative Ramashankar Mishra, BJP district president, Apna Dal district president and officials from various departments.
